Finger Lengths

When my son was born the paediatrian was really interested in his hands, because like mine his ring finger is shorter/the same length as his index finger. Here's a breakdown of what we know so far about finger lengths:

HEART DISEASE
Long ring finger:
Heart disease is linked with the male hand - a longer ring finger and shorter index finger. Autism and ADHD are also commoner

SEXUAL ACTIVITY
Long ring finger:
Researchers at the University of Cheminitz, Germany, found men with long ring fingers had more sexual partners in the previous year and during their sexual careers

MUSIC
Long ring finger: A study of 54 male members of a symphony orchestra by researchers at the University of Liverpool, found they had "exceptionally long" ring fingers compared with controls

DEPRESSION
Long index finger: A study at the University of Alberta found men with ring and index fingers of similar length - more like women - were more prone to depression - also like women

SEXUALITY
Long index finger: Scientists at the University of California found men and women with index and ring fingers of the same length were more likely to be homosexual

INTELLIGENCE
Long index finger: Research at Milan University showed men with more female hands - index and ring fingers of similar length - had better verbal skills and were more likely to get a good degree
